Per informazioni storiche, culturali e turistiche sulla città, si visiti il sito del Comune di Catania.

Siracusa è una delle più belle città del mondo. Un vero e proprio tuffo in tremila anni di storia, la città vecchia si trova sull’isola di Ortigia, che offre una spettacolare vista sulle spiaggie bianche della costa di Siracusa e il suo mare verde smeraldo. Piazza Duomo è attorniata da palazzi in stile barocco di brillante pietra bianca. La Chiesa del Duomo si erge su un antico Tempio di Minerva di cui sono ancora visibili le colonne doriche. Nella Chiesa di Santa Lucia è possibile ammirare il “Seppellimento di Santa Lucia” di Caravaggio. Nel Parco archeologico, nel nord della città, si possono visitare l’Anfiteatro romano, l’Altare di Ierone, il Teatro greco, la Latomia del paradiso, la Grotta dei Cordari e l’Orecchio di Dionisio. Da gustare, magari, insieme con la famosa granita siciliana di mandorle tostate.

The 13th STOREP Annual Conference takes place in Catania, one of the eight towns in South-Eastern Sicily, the towns of late Baroque – Unesco World Heritage. Siracusa is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its territory encompasses more than three thousand years of history. The old town is situated on the island of Ortigia, which offers a wonderful view of the white beaches of the coast of Siracusa and the emerald sea. The Piazza Duomo is surrounded by many baroque palaces in a gleaming white stone. The Church of the Duomo is built on ancient Temple of Minerva of which the Doric columns are visible. The Church of St. Lucia hold the Caravaggio painting “Burial of Saint Lucy”. In the Archaeological Park, in the north of the city, you can admire the Roman Amphitheatre, the Altar of Hieron, the Greek Theatre, the Latomie of Paradise, the Rope Makers Cave and the Ear of Dionysius. Do not forget to taste the famous granita toasted almonds, eaten outdoors with a hot sandwich.
