[:en]Welcome to the STOREP website

The Italian Association for the History of Political Economy (STOREP) was formally established on October 20, 2003, on initiative of some of the leading Italian figures in the history of economic thought and of political economy, with the primary aim of “promoting and sponsor teaching and research activities on the history of political economy, in all their manifestations”, as declared in the Memorandum of Association.

The Association can count on an international membership of some 220 scholars. STOREP has organized sixteen Annual Conferences (running for two or three days, in June, with invited lectures by eminent scholars and some 100 presentations in total) in as many Italian host cities, and four Summer schools, as well as supported, in a variety of forms, the efforts of other associations of historians of economic thought and political economy. STOREP grants annual scholarships to young researchers who submit their papers, and an Award for the best article presented by young scholars at the annual Conference. Since 2016, STOREP directly provides small research grants (so-called “STOREPgrants“) on a competitive basis to members of the Association. STOREP also produces a working paper series (“STOREPapers“). The Review of Political Economy and the journal Economia&Lavoro publish some of the best articles presented in the Annual Conference. 

In general, STOREP aims at:

– promoting and enhancing the interest of economists towards the history of economic thought in their teaching and research activity;

– fostering the collaboration between economists and historians (of economic thought and facts);

– enhancing the collaboration with similar national and international associations;

– furthering meetings and debates among scholars by organizing, not only the Annual Conference, but also seminars and workshops during the whole year;

– supporting young scholars‘ research and activity with scholarships and grants, as well as developing their training in the history of economic thought by means of targeted intiatives.

[:it]Benvenuti nel sito STOREP

L’Associazione Italiana per la Storia dell’Economia Politica (STOREP) è stata istituita il 20 ottobre 2003, su iniziativa di alcune tra le più importanti personalità italiane della storia del pensiero economico e dell’economia politica, con lo scopo primario di “promuovere e favorire le attività di studio e ricerca sulla storia dell’economia politica, in tutte le loro articolazioni” (come recita l’atto costitutivo dell’Associazione).

STOREP vanta una membership internazionale di circa 220 studiosi. L’Associazione ha nel tempo organizzato sedici Convegni annuali (di due o tre giorni, in giugno; alle lectures degli invited speakers di fama internazionale si accompagnano un centinaio di relazioni) in altrettante città italiane, e quattro Summer schools, e sostenuto con varie modalità gli sforzi di altre associazioni affini. STOREP assegna annualmente borse di studio ai giovani studiosi che intendono partecipare al Convegno, e un Premio per il miglior articolo presentato da un giovane in quest’occasione. Dal 2016, STOREP contribuisce direttamente a finanziare (con i cosiddetti “STOREPgrants“), su basi competitive, progetti di ricerca dei soci dell’Associazione. STOREP vanta inoltre una propria serie di working papers (“STOREPapers“), e le riviste Review of Political Economy ed Economia&Lavoro pubblicano alcuni dei migliori articoli presentati al Convegno annuale.

In generale, l’Associazione si pone i compiti di:

– promuovere, valorizzare e sostenere la sensibilità degli economisti verso la storia del pensiero economico nella didattica e nella ricerca;

– incentivare una feconda collaborazione tra economisti interessati alla storia del pensiero e storici, sia del pensiero sia dei fatti economici;

– promuovere la collaborazione con associazioni nazionali e internazionali affini;

– fornire occasioni di incontro e dibattito tra studiosi, organizzando il Convegno annuale, e sponsorizzando seminari e workshop durante tutto l’arco dell’anno;

– agevolare i giovani studiosi a partecipare a convegni e seminari, attraverso premi e borse di studio, e promuoverne la formazione nei campi di interesse dell’Associazione, con iniziative mirate allo scopo.
